BOOK REVIEW: AGAIN, BUT BETTER

Updated: Oct 6, 2020

Author: Christine Riccio

Genre: YA, humour

Published on: 7 May 2019

2011: Premed student, Shane Primavera, wanted more out of college than studying, and felt burned out from the constant lack of socialization. Therefore, she goes on a study abroad program, to London. She makes friends with her housemates, and meets Pilot Penn, a damn cute musician and hell of a humorous guy (yes, a perfect bf material) and they quickly bond over "The Beatles". Later, all of them go on a trip to Paris and Rome. Shane even gets an internship at a travel magazine called packed!

But just when her life was going on well, it took a U turn.

She returns to America in the middle of the program, dejected.

2017: Soon to become a gastroenterologist , Shane needed a closure from her 2011 episode. She hunts down Pilot and an unexpected turn of event takes place.

With a poof! She and pilot get a chance to relive their 2011 adventure and make things right!

But does it get better or worse?

I am in love with this book.

It took an unexpected turn halfway

but is very well connected from the beginning to the end.

I felt that the first part was quite slow than the second, where everything went into a rush, however, I would 100% recommend this light read.

The book is all about second chances, following your dreams, taking the scary path, trusting one another and believing in yourself.

The story makes one realize how important it is to live in the moment and seize every opportunity.

Apart from this, it has the right amount of humour and sarcasm.

Moreover, a lot of Harry Potter references were made. Here is a line from when Shane visits British Starbucks:

“I thought it (Starbucks) was my friend, but, it turns out, it was a regular coffee shop who took Polyjuice potion and was pretending to be my friend”

Q. Did you like this book?
